Do you have to leave home often or simply want to be sure that your home is safe? It is enough to purchase ACME smart door / window sensor and in your phone you will always see, when the home doors or windows are opened or closed. First of all, the sensor can be fastened on different surfaces: doors, windows, cupboard doors, drawers. If you have children at home – the sensor on medicine cupboard will inform you, if the children decide to check what is inside this cupboard. Also if during being out the rain suddenly starts, the sensors fastened on the windows will allow to see their status in a special mobile app. If some unexpected guests visit your home and try to tear off the sensor – it will immediately send a warning message to your smartphone about attempt to tear off the sensor. For example, if you have ACME SH2102 smart door / window sensor and ACME SH1101 smart “Wi-Fi” plug, you can create a scenario that upon opening the street-door, the illuminator will switch on (it must be plugged into smart plug.) Or put a setting that upon opening the window in the living-room, the air conditioner switches off automatically. Creation of a scenario is very simple – you only have to use your creativity and imagination. Another advantage of the sensor – very easy fastening. What app shall I use for this device?

You should use “Smart Life” for Android version 4.1 and iOS version 9.0 and above.

How do I pair this device with my phone?

The process is very simple – simply press and hold the main button for 5 seconds to enter the Wi-Fi configuration mode. The LED light will indicate if EZ mode (flashing rapidly) or AP mode (flashing slowly) is on. EZ mode connection is set as default in Wi-Fi configuration. If you want to switch between the modes, simply press and hold the button for 5 seconds - the device will switch between the EZ mode and AP mode. Next, please follow the instructions in the app and refer to the manual provided for additional detailed pairing guidelines. 

What is the difference between the EZ and AP connection modes?

When EZ (easy mode) mode is on, The Door/Window Sensor directly connects to your home router. When AP (access point) mode is on, The Door/Window Sensor creates an access point which connects to the smartphone and to your home’s router.
*Different modes are necessary for particular router types. If one mode doesn’t work with your router, try switching to another mode and try again.

How do I unpair the device?

The process is very simple – simply press and hold the main button on the device for 5 seconds to unpair it from your smartphone. Another way of doing it is to go to your application’s settings menu and select ‘Remove Device’ from the device settings menu. 

How to reset the device?

Similar to other devices, open the application device menu, go to and simply click on ‘Restore Manufacturer Defaults’. 

How does the Door / Window sensor work?

The process is very simple. This Door/Window safety sensor works using two components – a sensor and a magnet. First, the sensor is installed on the window or the door frame, while the magnet is attached to the window or the door itself. The way it works is that a simple circuit is connected by a magnetic current that sends a notification to the smartphone when the current is disturbed.

Can I mount the Door and Window Sensor outdoors?

Unfortunately, the device is not waterproof and is not resistant to various weather conditions, so it should be mounted only indoors in a dry spot. 

What type of batteries shall I use to power this sensor?

You should use two triple-A batteries to power this sensor. 

How do I replace the batteries?

The process is very simple. First, remove the sensor from its fixed position so that you can easily access the batteries slot. Next, simply remove the batteries and remove them with the brand-new ones. 

How do I install the Door / Window sensor?

First of all, the sensor’s body part and the magnet part must be installed in such a way so that the distance between them is less than 10 mm when the door/window is closed. Also, the sensor should not be mounted directly on or near metal framing or other large metallic objects because that might weaken the strength of the radio signal. Finally, as it has already been mentioned, the sensor is not waterproof so should only be placed indoors and away from any other extreme weather conditions.

How do I mount the device to the door, wall or window?

One way is to attach the double-sided mounting tape to the device and to the surface you want to mount the device onto, such as wall, door, or window frame. Another way of doing it is to screw the mounting plate and the magnet onto the wall, door or window frame using the included screws. What is the Door / Window sensor battery’s life?

The battery’s life is great, as it can last up to 6 months straight. You should note thought, that the battery life depends on the batteries’ quality and the number of daily triggers the sensor experiences.

I am not receiving any notifications – what shall I do?

Don’t panic, simply check all the permissions are given for the application in your phone’s settings – make sure that all notifications are allowed for Simple Home applications in your settings. 

What might cause tampered alarm notifications to appear so often?

Don’t worry, if you get tampered alarm notifications without interfering with the device very often, please make sure that your device is mounted properly and the surface.

I cannot connect to the device – what shall I do?

Don’t panic! First of all, make sure that your device is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, since 5 GHz Wi-Fi network is not supported unfortunately. Next, make sure that the device is within the range of the Wi-Fi network, which spreads a strong signal. Finally, make sure that your wireless router/ access point or the network provider is not blocking the P2P (peer to peer) type of networking.

The device turned off unexpectedly – is it broken?

Don’t worry, it’s not! Simply your Wi-Fi network might have turned off, please check and, if needed, restart the router. Also, please check the batteries – they might need replacement! 

I cannot connect to the device from outside of my home network – what shall I do?

It might be to do with the router you’re currently on – please make sure that the router/access point you’re currently using has a port forwarding enabled to access the device. For more detailed information, please contact your network provider.
