With ACME SH1101 Wi-Fi Smart Plug every home is a smart home. If you think that remote control of your house devices is possible only with expensive smart house installation - you are wrong. The Smart Plug is an affordable solution to help every electronic device become a smart one. Simply plug a lamp to ACME SH1101 Wi-Fi Smart Plug – your lamp has just become smart. A special app will allow you to see electricity consumption of electronic devices as well as weekly or monthly graphs. All devices connected to the smart plug will be displayed in one single application. Also, you will be able to schedule device operations. For example, if you leave home to work every day at 7:00 am, you can set home devices to turn off at 7:20 am, that’s how you save electricity. Thanks to scheduling, you can easily set a towel rail to work only in the morning and in the evening – for wet towels to get dry. Another great function of the Smart plug is remote control. Control electronic devices even when you are far from home. Imitate that you are at home - set a timetable for the home lights to turn on periodically. No one will even notice that there is no host at home. Moreover, if you have virtual assistant Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant at home, you will be able to control all the devices plugged into the smart plug by voice. What app shall I use for this device?

You should use “Smart Life” for Android version 4.1 and iOS version 9.0 and above.

How do I pair this device with my phone?

The process is very simple – simply press and hold the main button for 5 seconds to enter the Wi-Fi configuration mode. The LED light will indicate if EZ mode (flashing rapidly) or AP mode (flashing slowly) is on. EZ mode connection is set as default in Wi-Fi configuration. If you want to switch between the modes, simply press and hold the button for 5 seconds - the device will switch between the EZ mode and AP mode. Next, please follow the instructions in the app and refer to the manual provided for additional detailed pairing guidelines. 

What is the difference between the EZ and AP connection modes?

When EZ (easy mode) mode is on, The Smart Plug directly connects to your home router. When AP (access point) mode is on, The Smart Plug creates an access point which connects to the smartphone and to your home’s router.
*Different modes are necessary for particular router types. If one mode doesn’t work with your router, try switching to another mode and try again.
 

How to reset the device?

Similar to other devices, open the application device menu and go to Settings, then click ‘Restore Manufacturer Defaults’.

Can I manually turn on/off the device(s) while it’s plugged into Smart Plug?

Of course, you can!

Does Smart Plug’s shape block other outlets on the socket panel?

Nope! It’s designed to be as convenient as possible, so it is compatible with the standard layout of the socket panel. 

Can I plug in a power strip to the smart plug?

Of course, you can plug a power strip into your Smart Plug! You can also turn it on/off via the Simple Home app or voice command using Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant. However, you should note that the total draw and wattage of all the devices plugged into the power strip should be within the rated amperage and wattage of the Smart Plug.

How many plugs can I add and use in the app?

The short and pleasant answer is – limitless. There’s no limit of how many plugs you can add and use in the app. 

Does Smart Plug use a lot of power while being in Standby mode?

Absolutely not! Smart Plug consumes less than 1 W when in Standby mode.

Where can I control the smart plug from?

Since the device is controlled via its app, you can literally control from anywhere! Either from your smartphone or tablet as long as you have connection to the Internet, you’re good to go!

I cannot connect to the device from outside of my home network – what shall I do?

It might be to do with the router you’re currently on – please make sure that the router/access point you’re currently using has a port forwarding enabled to access the device. For more detailed information, please contact your network provider.

Can I use the smart plug without my smartphone?

Of course, you can! Simply switch the smart plug on/off manually using the switch button located on the front panel. The LED light will serve you as an indicator if the device is on or off. 

Is there a difference between turning off the device manually (pressing the button) or turning off the device via the Smart Life app?

No, there is absolutely no difference, so please choose whichever method is more convenient for you. 

How do I switch the Wi-Fi network, which my Smart Plug is connected to?

Simply press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to reset the connection. Next, after successfully resetting your Smart Plug’s connection settings, simply follow the standard Wi-Fi set-up procedure in your Smart Life app. 

How to set-up Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant?

We recommend you to read a detailed manual of the set-up process to get familiarized with the technicalities. 

Can I ask Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to turn off the power after 30 minutes since the Simple Home app has a timer function?

Unfortunately, you cannot. As of now, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant can only turn on/off the Smart Plug on the spot. 

Can multiple Smart Plugs work together with Amazon Alexa/Google Assistant? If so, do I need to use separate names for each of the Smart Plugs?

Of course, they can! And yes, we recommend to use a different name of each of the plugs when setting them up in the Simple Home app. 

Can Smart Plug track the energy consumption of the plugged device?

Of course, it can! Check your app for the device’s consumption readings.

Can the Smart Plug be controlled by multiple users?

The user account that initially set up Smart Plug and connected it to the Wi-Fi network is the owner and primary account. Other users can also control Smart Plug but device owner needs to share the device in the Smart Life app. After that, another user can control Smart Plug without going through the setup process.

Does Smart Plug support the 5GHz Wi-Fi network?

Unfortunately, not. Smart Plug only supports the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.

I cannot connect to the device – what shall I do?

Don’t panic! First of all, make sure that your device is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, since 5 GHz Wi-Fi network is not supported unfortunately. Next, make sure that the device is within the range of the Wi-Fi network, which spreads a strong signal. Finally, make sure that your wireless router/ access point or the network provider is not blocking the P2P (peer to peer) type of networking.

The device turned off unexpectedly – is it broken?

Don’t worry, it’s not! Simply your Wi-Fi network might have turned off, please check and, if needed, restart the router. Please note that once the power is cut off, your device will go into the sleeping mode, so make sure that you turn it back on through the application or manually by pressing the button on the device.

Will the device get back to the same settings once I switch it back on after the electricity loss?

When your power returns, the smart plug will automatically reboot and for security reasons will switch off your appliance. It will switch on again at the next scheduled time or you can manually switch it back on.

How can I check the status of the smart plug?

Simply go your Simple Home app and check the status of your smart plug there.

What do I need to have to start using the smart plug with an appliance?

All you need to have to start using the smart plug is a 2.4 GHz wireless network and a mobile device that has to be connected to the internet, that’s all! 

What kind of appliances can I control remotely with the smart plug?

There is a wide range of appliances, which can be controlled with the smart plug. However, please ensure that the current load does not exceed the maximum allowed 10A and the power load does not exceed the maximum allowed 2300W.

Can Smart Plug be used outdoors?

Not quite yet. Our current Smart Plug model is designed for indoor use only. 

Does Smart Plug have multi-voltage support? Can I install and use Smart Plug in other countries?

Yes, Smart Plug has multi-voltage support and works in the range of 100-240V 50/60 Hz

If I move the Smart Plug to another outlet, do I need to set it up again?

The short and pleasant answer is no, you don’t! The Smart Plug is actually smart and remembers the IP configuration, so if it remains within the same Wi-Fi network, it will continue working without the need to be set up again. 

Will my personal data be protected according to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

Of course, it will be protected! GDPR is intended to protect the fundamental privacy rights of EU data subjects and the security of personal data and our platform is fully ready for GDPR compliance assessment.
