What app shall I use for this device?

You should use “Smart Life” for Android version 4.1 and iOS version 9.0 and above.

What is the difference between the EZ and AP connection modes?

When EZ (easy mode) mode is on, The Door/Window Sensor directly connects to your home router. When AP (access point) mode is on, The Door/Window Sensor creates an access point which connects to the smartphone and to your home’s router.
*Different modes are necessary for particular router types. If one mode doesn’t work with your router, try switching to another mode and try again.

How do I unpair the device?

The process is very simple – simply press and hold the main button on the device for 5 seconds to unpair it from your smartphone. Another way of doing it is to go to your application’s settings menu and select ‘Remove Device’ from the device settings menu.

How to reset the device?

Similar to other devices, open the application device menu, go to and simply click on ‘Restore Manufacturer Defaults’.

How does the Door / Window sensor work?

The process is very simple. This Door/Window safety sensor works using two components – a sensor and a magnet. First, the sensor is installed on the window or the door frame, while the magnet is attached to the window or the door itself. The way it works is that a simple circuit is connected by a magnetic current that sends a notification to the smartphone when the current is disturbed.

Can I mount the Door and Window Sensor outdoors?

Unfortunately, the device is not waterproof and is not resistant to various weather conditions, so it should be mounted only indoors in a dry spot.

What type of batteries shall I use to power this sensor?

You should use two triple-A batteries to power this sensor.

How do I install the Door / Window sensor?

First of all, the sensor’s body part and the magnet part must be installed in such a way so that the distance between them is less than 10 mm when the door/window is closed. Also, the sensor should not be mounted directly on or near metal framing or other large metallic objects because that might weaken the strength of the radio signal. Finally, as it has already been mentioned, the sensor is not waterproof so should only be placed indoors and away from any other extreme weather conditions.

How do I mount the device to the door, wall or window?

One way is to attach the double-sided mounting tape to the device and to the surface you want to mount the device onto, such as wall, door, or window frame. Another way of doing it is to screw the mounting plate and the magnet onto the wall, door or window frame using the included screws. The orientation marks on the sensor’s body and the magnet must point towards each other as illustrated below. sh2102 smart sensor

The device turned off unexpectedly – is it broken?

Don’t worry, it’s not! Simply your Wi-Fi network might have turned off, please check and, if needed, restart the router. Also, please check the batteries – they might need replacement!

I cannot connect to the device from outside of my home network – what shall I do?
